ACO®- ACTIVE CATAYTIC OXIDISER FOR ADVANCED WATER TREATMENT
ACO® (Active Catalytic Oxidizer) is an innovative water treatment solution that uses the natural energy of sunlight (UV light) to generate highly reactive free radicals. These radicals significantly increase the oxidation potential of water, leading to more effective disinfection and purification — without creating harmful by-products such as trihalomethanes (THMs) or chloramines.
ACO® enhances the efficiency of existing water treatment systems, protects chlorine from rapid breakdown under sunlight, and delivers safe, sustainable, and cost-effective water disinfection.
Key Advantages & Benefits
- Fish-friendly – safe for aquaculture and sensitive aquatic systems
- Cleaner, clearer water – reduces organic matter load and burden on filters
- Healthier water – minimizes harmful disinfection by-products like trichloramine and chloroform
- High efficiency – extends the half-life of chlorine and peroxide by over 300%
- Eco-friendly – works with sunlight, reduces chemical consumption
- Cost-effective – lowers operational expenses in both industrial and biological systems
METHODS OF PREPARATION
Step 1
Use energy from the sun to oxidise organics with no noxious by-products.
Step 2
2 Coagulation and Flocculation with APF® and ZPM®
Step 3
Catalytic Oxidation with ACO®
RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS
ACO® can be used across multiple industries and water treatment systems:
- Aquaculture & Fish Systems – safe for aquatic life, improves water clarity, reduces bio-load
- Swimming Pools & Spas – lowers chlorine consumption, reduces chloramine formation, provides cleaner, healthier water
- Drinking Water Treatment – enhances disinfection, lowers harmful by-products
- Cooling Towers & Industrial Water – prevents biofilm, protects pipes, reduces operating costs
- Wastewater & Effluent Treatment – breaks down organics, improves discharge quality
How ACO® Works
When exposed to sunlight (UV energy), ACO® absorbs and converts this energy into reactive free radicals such as hydroxyl radicals (•OH) and oxygen radicals (O•).
These radicals:
- Oxidize organic and inorganic pollutants, breaking them down into harmless end products like CO₂, nitrogen, and water.
- Boost the natural oxidation capacity of water.
- Protect chlorine in outdoor systems by slowing down photolysis, making chlorine last up to 3 times longer.
The result is a powerful, natural advanced oxidation process (AOP) that improves water quality while reducing chemical use.
Dosage & Usage Guidelines
- Animal / Fish Systems: 0.5 – 1.0 ml per m³ of filtered turnover
- Swimming Pools / Spas: Dosage depends on water volume, typically similar to animal systems; double the dose during the initial 4 weeks for best results
- Industrial Systems: Consult a water treatment specialist; dosage may vary with system design and load
Note: Visible results may take 6–8 weeks depending on system conditions.
Safety & Handling
- Store in a cool, dark, and well-ventilated area
- Use only HDPE containers for storage
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight before application
- Handle with gloves and protective eyewear during dosing
- Keep away from acids, bases, and combustible materials
FAQs ABOUT ACTIVE CATALYTIC OXIDISER
ACO is a special filter media used along with DGS (Dryden Glass Sand) that helps remove harmful substances from water and boosts chlorine's effectiveness.
ACO is added as a pre-treatment layer before DGS in the filter. It enhances the performance of DGS and provides better protection against contamination.
Yes, ACO is made from natural materials and is completely safe for human use and the environment.
Yes. It protects chlorine from UV damage and makes it more effective, which means you can use less chlorine to keep the water clean.
It works best when used with DGS (Dryden Glass Sand) but can be added to other systems as a pre-filter layer.
